March 12 & 13 is Great Plains Dig Pink Weekend for SideOut Foundation
Clubs across the country are joining The SideOut Foundation’s Dig Pink® Tour, and the Great Plains region is supporting SideOut’s mission this season! Our region is focused on developing a well-rounded, community oriented athlete as well as building skills in the sport of volleyball, and the Dig Pink® Tour gives us an exceptional opportunity to do just that.
The Assist Project is the central element of the Tour. Teams both raise money for stage 4 breast cancer research and create cards for patients with cancer. It is a tremendous teambuilding exercise and it gives your athletes the opportunity to make an impact while playing a sport they love.
The Great Plains Region is designating March 12-13 as the focus weekend for your teams to participate in this worthwhile activity. Wear your pink shirts in support of this mission. Join the Pinnacle Jrs from Wisner as they host their Dig Pink VI volleyball tournament on March 13. The Great Plains Region will give a donation to the SideOut Foundation in the name of any team that donates money from that weekend’s activities. Just contact Commissioner Sue Mailhot at email@example.com for further information.
Your team can participate whenever it works out best for you, but what a great site that would be if in every gym in the region, wore pink shirts all around and players creating cards for patients with cancer.
Side-Out’s goal this year is $150,000 and 10,000 cards. Let’s help them reach it!!
Last year Side-Out was awarded the Community Champion Research & Hope Award by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). The USA Volleyball rules of the game commission met on 2/25/16. They voted to eliminate the gray box that refers to rule 19.2. This change goes into effect immediately.
Rule 19.2 will now read:
The Libero player(s) must wear a uniform (OR JACKET/BIB FOR THE RE-DESIGNATED Libero) which has a different dominant color from any color of the rest of the team. The uniform must clearly contrast with the rest of the team. The Libero uniforms must be numbered like the rest of the team.
Any uniform that you currently have is still legal per these rules. This change eliminates the recent solid colored uniform requirement. As long as your regular player jersey and your libero jersey are contrasting in color and or not the same color as the predominant color in the other jerseys, then your uniform will be legal.
