Tryout Policy

TRY-OUT DATES
Junior try-outs for the 2006-2007 season, age groups 10-14, may not be held prior to the first Saturday in November (which is November 4, 2006).  Junior try-outs for age groups 15-18 may not be held prior to the first Saturday (which is November 18, 2006) following the conclusion of the Nebraska Girls State High School Volleyball Championships.

Try-out dates should be reported to the office one-month prior to your try-out.  Failure to report your try-out dates may result in your club being penalized $50. Clubs do not have to conduct tryouts.  Teams can be individually selected.  If a club is having a tryout for only a specific number of player slots or specific positions, that should be disclosed prior to the beginning of the tryout.

Tryout dates are posted on the website as they are received from club directors.  If tryout dates for certain clubs are not listed, contact the club director directly.

TRY-OUTS
Players may choose to attend multiple try-outs.  Each club may assess a try-out fee.  This fee may or may not include the $5 fee that is required by the Great Plains Region for try-out insurance coverage.

An individual club try-out form must be completed and collected by the club director before the try-outs begin.  The Region requires a $5 fee for every player who tries out.  This fee may be applied to the player's membership fee if selected for a team.  If the player tries out but does not join a team in a club, the $5 and the completed try-out form needs to be sent to the office.

LETTER OF INTENT
At the try-out, the following statement, regarding the letter of intent, must be read to all parents of players attending try-outs:

"Completing this form commits said player to said club for the upcoming season.  Commitment can ONLY be written.  Failure to live up to the commitment will result in a player being ineligible for the upcoming season unless commitment is waived by said club."

Commitment Forms may not be signed by players or parents/guardians (and therefore are not binding) until the first specified tryout date for your specific age division.

A position on a team may be offered to a player by the club director and/or coach at the end of try-outs.  Players and parents may sign the Junior Letter Of Intent at that time or may take the chance that the player's position may be offered to an alternate player willing to commit.  The player may then accept a position from the club at a later date.  If a player signs a letter of intent, they may not attend other tryouts.

Players will not sign the letter of intent or region membership form until after a tryout and with the knowledge of the exact age division and level of the team they will be assigned to.

Clubs/teams do not have to have tryouts.  If a club is having a tryout for only a specific number of player slots or specific positions, that should be disclosed prior to the beginning of the tryout.

RECRUITING POLICY
Club personnel cannot contact (i.e. phone calls, letters, flyers, emails, face to face, etc.) a player from another club after the Sunday before (October 30, 2006) NSAA district competition begins until the established tryout dates.
